It’s A Digital Age

By North East Wedding Photographer Marco Damian

We all know how expensive planning your wedding can be. there really is no shying away from it. But after all is said and done, what will you have to show for your investment? Once the celebrations have come to an end, the cake has been eaten, the flowers have returned to the earth, the band have packed up and you’re snuggly back home after your wonderful honeymoon, the one thing you will have left is your photography and importantly, your wedding album.

We now live in a very digital age, we take and store more photos than we care to remember. But staring at them on a computer or your phone never compares to having them printed. A postcard will always beat a text and a birthday card will always beat a facebook post which says a lot about our connectivity with the physical. Your wedding album will be your one and only forever keep sake, how many of our major life experiences do you get the opportunity to photograph and consolidate in to a fine art album? To have a book filled with your wedding moments you can physically touch, feel and smell (yes smell) will keep those memories alive indefinitely. One day you’re going to want to relive those treasured moments, to transport yourself back in time whether it’s been a year, two or ten years after your wedding and your wedding album is your ticket back to one of the most important days in your life.

I know how tempting it can be to try and save money wherever you can, to cut a few corners, and when it comes to an expensive purchase like a wedding album you might be tempted to save some money and “do it yourself” via the countless online photo book apps. If you’re thinking of doing this just remember why you hired your wedding photographer in the first place. Yes, to photograph your wedding, but there’s a lot of important elements to consider when it comes to printing a digital photograph in order to ensure it looks as good as it possibly can on the best possible materials.

I also have a lengthy background in graphic design and a love of printed artwork. Remember, with me you’re not only getting my photography, you’re getting my creative direction and experience. When photographing your wedding I’m also considering how your images will look printed and composed in an album as well as a photo frame. Four out of five brides opt for an album so my mindset is always focused towards taking photos which work over various mediums including your album.

All my albums are hand made and printed via one of the best manufacturers in England - Folio Albums - and are only available to professional photographers. I always bring sample albums when meeting couples so you'll have a chance to view this experience for yourself.
